Skinted Or Minted

15 Feb

I love getting new stuff for my bedroom, like duvet covers for my bed, and Cath Kidston is an amazing brand with gorgeous homey things which I’d love to get my hands on! Unfortunatly, things there can be pretty expensive so I looked around for more beautiful covers and I finally found some from The Range. The two places have websites which you can check out and the two places have covers that look (more or less) exactly the same! They’re light blue with pink flowers and on the other side of the cover there are polka dots; red ones on a white background on the Cath Kidston cover and white ones with a light blue background on the The Range cover. They’re lovely! So which one would you choose? The expensive-looking expensive one for £65 or the cheaper but just as good version for £14.99?

Sparkly Nails

23 Jan

My favourite kind of make-up by far is nail varnish. It’s fun, cheap and so easy to apply! The best nail varnish out there right now, in my opinion, is Barry M’s sparkly, glittery, colourful collection. There are many cute bottles to choose from, but my favourites are these. There’s the Amethyst, the Diamond, the Gold Mine, the Rose Quartz, the Ruby, and the coolest one for me; the Pink Sapphire. Gorgeous! And for £2.99 and 3 for the price of 2 at Superdrug, they’re a beauty-licious bargain!

Amethyst, £2.99         Diamond, £2.99

Gold Mine, £2.99      Rose Quartz, £2.99

Ruby, £2.99       Pink Sapphire, £2.99

Top Sale Picks

2 Jan

It’s that time of year where sales are in nearly every high street shop, so I’ve picked my four favourite bargains around. Firstly, these leopard print loafers from Topshop are adorable and they used to be £28 but are now £10. Secondly,  there’s this on-trend, bright yellow Cambridge satchel from that used to be £141 but is now £90. Thirdly, this black and white paisley blazer is from River Island and used to be £55 but now it’s £30. And lastly, there’s this gorgeous plum coloured leather trousers from H&M that were £24.99 but are now £12, and they are also available in black.

A Bright Idea

31 Dec

Oh wow I can’t believe it’s the last day of the year already! 2012 has gone by so fast and so many amazing things have happened! It’s a shame I only wrote my diary up to January 16th so I’m going to try harder in 2013! But just in case I forget and can’t be bothered, I’ve invented something new. It’s called the Happy Jar and everyone can make one! The only thing I did was find an empty jam jar in my kitchen, wash it and label it with a piece of paper saying “Happy Jar.” So what I’m going to do next year is write anything that happens to me that is good and makes me feel happy; like last year I got a job, I succeeded in my exams and I recieved £300 for Christmas! If I’d had a jar then I’d have written them down on pieces of paper, folded them and stuck them in. But the happy things can be little things to like if you’ve finished a great book, or watched an amazing film, or someone you like complimented your outfit, and so on. The nice thing is, if you ever feel sad or upset in 2013, you can just look at the jar or even read some of the notes in it, and hopefully you’ll feel better and know that you shouldn’t be sad because you have lot’s of reasons to be happy. So happy new year to you all, good luck and let 2013 be a fantastic year for you. BTW, forget impossible resolutions and think of seizing the day, helping others, enjoying, trying and doing new things, being healthier, and living life to the full.

Winter Coats

24 Nov

Everyone needs a coat this winter and now’s the perfect time to treat yourself to a new one! Whether it be a leather biker jacket or a beige trench, I have picked out the coats I like best from the high street and online, but of course there are many more! I especially love the green army-like coat with leather sleeves from Topshop, so Burberry-ish! And the leopard print faux fur coat from Miss Selfridge is unique, very stylish and very very warm! So go on, go shopping and pick a style that’ll suit you!

Rock Buns

19 Nov

I love food very much so I thought I’d better post something about it on my blog. The thing is, I can’t cook; not at all! Ok, maybe pasta and boil in the bag rice and beans on toast and microwave packages, but nothing else! Well, only if I have a clear, detailed set of instructions. So for all of the foodies out there who can’t cook for toffee, like me, here’s an easy but delicious recipe on how to make rock buns. So go on, show everyone you can do it!

You’ll need:

  • 200 grams self raising flour
  • 25 grams of margarine
  • 75 grams of caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • water
  • 75 grams of chocolate chips

  • a small bowl
  • a big bowl
  • a fork
  • a sieve
  • a jug
  • a tablespoon
  • a baking tray

  • Put the oven on to 180 degrees
  • Put a little bit of oil on the tray
  • Sieve the flour into the big bowl
  • Crack the egg into the small bowl and turn with the fork
  • Put cold water into the jug
  • Put 2 tablespoons of the water into the egg and turn
  • Break the margarine into small pieces with your fingers and put into the big bowl
  • Break everything with your fingers so the flour and margarine look like crumbs
  • Wash your hands
  • Add the sugar
  • Turn with a tablespoon
  • Put the chocolate chips into the bowl and turn
  • Make a hole in the middle and pour about three quarters of the egg inside
  • Turn and add more egg if needed
  • If the fork stays up in the mixture you’ve done it right
  • Pile the mixture onto the tray in little round balls
  • Leave them in the oven for 10-12 minutes untill they are golden brown
  • Take them out and eat

If you fancy some dried fruit put 75 grams of these into the mixture instead of chocolate chips. Or if you want to try rock buns as your lunch instead of your dessert, add small pieces of cheese or ham and don’t put the sugar in. Enjoy!
