Rock Buns

I love food very much so I thought I’d better post something about it on my blog. The thing is, I can’t cook; not at all! Ok, maybe pasta and boil in the bag rice and beans on toast and microwave packages, but nothing else! Well, only if I have a clear, detailed set of instructions. So for all of the foodies out there who can’t cook for toffee, like me, here’s an easy but delicious recipe on how to make rock buns. So go on, show everyone you can do it!

You’ll need:

  • 200 grams self raising flour
  • 25 grams of margarine
  • 75 grams of caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • water
  • 75 grams of chocolate chips


  • a small bowl
  • a big bowl
  • a fork
  • a sieve
  • a jug
  • a tablespoon
  • a baking tray


  • Put the oven on to 180 degrees
  • Put a little bit of oil on the tray
  • Sieve the flour into the big bowl
  • Crack the egg into the small bowl and turn with the fork
  • Put cold water into the jug
  • Put 2 tablespoons of the water into the egg and turn
  • Break the margarine into small pieces with your fingers and put into the big bowl
  • Break everything with your fingers so the flour and margarine look like crumbs
  • Wash your hands
  • Add the sugar
  • Turn with a tablespoon
  • Put the chocolate chips into the bowl and turn
  • Make a hole in the middle and pour about three quarters of the egg inside
  • Turn and add more egg if needed
  • If the fork stays up in the mixture you’ve done it right
  • Pile the mixture onto the tray in little round balls
  • Leave them in the oven for 10-12 minutes untill they are golden brown
  • Take them out and eat


If you fancy some dried fruit put 75 grams of these into the mixture instead of chocolate chips. Or if you want to try rock buns as your lunch instead of your dessert, add small pieces of cheese or ham and don’t put the sugar in. Enjoy!
